Upright meaning
A new start is possible before you feel sure of it. The Fool asks for trust, curiosity, and the courage to move while you are still working out the route.
Reversed meaning
The leap may be delayed by recklessness, fear, or refusal to notice the cliff. Pause long enough to tell faith from avoidance.
Symbolism
- road — The way ahead, open but not yet mapped.
- cliff — A real risk, close enough to see.
- animal-guide — Instinct as a companion: the gut feeling that warns or encourages.
- mountain — Challenges ahead, still far enough away to face later.
Lore
The Fool carries the number zero here; in the Tarot de Marseille he has no number at all, a wanderer outside the sequence of trumps. He stands for a beginning you can't fully plan: the step you take before you're sure.
In daily life, The Fool is the moment before a message is sent or a door is opened, or when you let people see you trying something you haven't mastered.
