Upright meaning
Some cups are spilled and the grief is real. The Five of Cups asks the player to mourn honestly without letting loss erase what still stands.
Reversed meaning
Grief begins to move. The player may be ready to turn, forgive, retrieve what remains, or stop punishing themselves for the spill.

Lore
The Five of Cups stands at the river after the feast has fallen. Three vessels bleed into the earth, two remain behind, and a bridge waits without interrupting the mourner.
In play, this can mark a failed bargain, a lost clue, a broken trust, a grief-heavy NPC, or the moment when regret becomes information instead of sentence.
